Jonquil Williamson is a British contemporary still life artist specialising in colourful oil paintings. Working from her studio at Wimbledon Art Studios in London and at home in Surrey, she paints flowers, fruit, vegetables, pots and other everyday objects, alongside landscapes inspired by the British coast and countryside.

“I paint in oils. Colour is the dominant driver in all my works, creating vibrant still life and rich tonal landscapes. My paintings are inspired initially by colours I observe in the landscape and things around me. I allow the mark-making and textures created as I layer the paint to project the essence of the object or place.”

Originally an accountant, Jonquil always sought an outlet for her creativity. In her late 30s she began taking life drawing and then watercolour classes. Once she found oil painting, she began to develop her art practice more seriously and after her 2013 diploma in Art and Design, she joined the vibrant arts community that is Wimbledon Art Studios.

Original Paintings & Fine Art Prints

My original oil paintings are contemporary still lifes, painted from life in my home studio. I’m drawn to colour, light and the beauty of everyday objects, particularly flowers, fruit and vegetables, creating vibrant paintings with a fresh, contemporary feel. Original oil paintings are signed on the front and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

A selection of my original paintings is also available as limited-edition fine art giclée prints. Each work is professionally photographed and the prints produced by Martin Sturgess at Atelier Sturgess, using archival pigment inks on Canson Edition Etching 310gsm fine-art paper. This subtly textured matt paper gives exceptional colour accuracy and richness while offering excellent lightfastness and longevity. Each print is individually editioned and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
